Today she was lamenting about Trump and all the havoc.

I reminded her about how she praised Trump around the time of the election, specifically saying she approved of “a strong man” and making a fist gesture as she said it.

But I was corrected. Turns out I mis-remembered. She always supported Kamala, who “listens to people” unlike Trump who “is always complaining”.

Honestly, people who are pretending they never supported trump should be embraced right now. The people who stand by him are the ones who we ought to direct our fury at.

Oh this is a thing that happens, and she might not even be doing it on purpose.

I was reading a book about how people change their minds, and it mentioned some study of long term belief. Many people who changed their mind about big things like abortion seemingly legitimately could not remember ever having the opposite opinion.

I think it’s because the ego is fragile, and people don’t like admitting fault.

Never ever forget who those people were. They were okay with Trump’s racism, the saber rattling, the promises of tyranny, the misinformation, his chaos, his love of Putin, the weird relationship with Elon Musk, Project 2025, the kleptocracy, the nepotism, the bullying, and even his promises of tariffs. Now that the American markets are crashing and the world hates the US she finally drew the line. She’ll always be a piece of shit and will embrace the next conservative who talks like a dumbass at her level, so long as they don’t go too mask-off I guess.

There is a YouTube videos of her going through her room, her demeanor changes 180 when she gets to her bed. Sick fuck.

I mean there is a cut right there. The shots could have been shot in the other order or shot ten minutes apart, and anything could have happened in the interval. This is stretching so hard, you have to REALLY want to believe it for it to seem credible. Ie, you’re lying to yourself. I’m not saying nothing happened to her, I’m saying this is not evidence any reasonable person would accept.

Dude, he’s been caught talking about how he wants to fuck her. And the old pics of them? Lets be real. One thing is a coincidence, but 17 accusers, one guilty verdict, pictures, the way he talks to women, his wife’s avoidance to even hold his hand? YOU have to be lying yourself to think all these red flags mean nothing. Epstein Island? Walking in on teens dressing? Get real.

I’m not having a discussion about whether or not Trump raped his child. I’m having a discussion about whether the evidence you presented is valid evidence. It’s not, and hearing someone say that sent you off on a tizzy. Reflect.

They may be lying to you and themselves because it can be hard to accept that they were wrong. This is just an aspect of human behaviour. Perhaps in her mind she always had doubts about Comrade Spraytan but never expressed those because of partisanship, and so the pro-Trump messages she expressed before didn’t register as strongly to her as they did to you.

Memory is a weird thing, and we all have issues like this. For me, I remember now that Telsa has always been a shitty car company. However also I tried to convince my wife to buy one in 2018. So the part of my memory that remembers that I always knew their build quality sucked got muddled and overemphasized in my recollection even if it was always there. (Thank gourd I didn’t buy one)

You can still acknowledge the truth but spin it in a positive way. The most important thing is that now they are on our side, helping to defend and protect our country. I’d try to congratulate and support her journey, and contrast what she’s saying now what with she said then in a positive and supportive way.

We need more conservatives on our side, supporting Canada and not MAGA.

They’re never on our side. They’re on our side because they’re feeling the pain.
You can work together to deal with the consequences of Trump, but never trust them. Remember that their values align with Trump and will vote against you as soon as you inconvenience them

        Absolutely agree.

I’m just trying to stress that it’s important to have even the people we vehemently disagree with allied with us on the issue of sovereignty. The last thing we want is more MAGA like Danielle Smith or lil PP getting power.

Because whether we like it or not, someday the right will get in power. In BC we were incredibly close, and the federal polls are currently looking tight. So I want to encourage the pro-Canadian elements in our right flank even if I don’t prefer them to take power

You know they’re full shit, they know they’re full of shit.
It doesn’t matter much, it’s the cognitive dissonance hitting her like a train wreck.

Different people will use different ways to resolve cognitive dissonance by trying to create some sort of internal consistency.

    1. Denial: (we’re here 👋 )
Deny ever supporting him or his policies even though she literally did.

    2. Rationalization:
Argue she was misled, she never believed he’d take such drastic (yet promised) actions.

    3. Alter perception:
Convince herself he’s not really a fascist and it’s necessary for some poorly defined greater good

    4. Selective exposure
Seek out info that aligns with her current view, dismiss anything that contradicts.

I mean it all sucks, but I’d rather deal with people doing #1 or #2 than the other forms of doubling down. 🤷

Build your enemy a golden bridge to retreat across and all that.
