No! They did it! They blew it up!
And then the apes blew up their society too. How could this happen?
And then the birds took over and ruined their society.
And then the cows. And then…I don’t know, is that a slug, maybe?
Noooo!
GOD DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!
I like how the only thing left of fucking New York City is made of iron and thin sheets of copper.
Whatever, but I know the commander because he’s my pal. Don’t think you know something about the commander. Here’s a picture.
For reasons not directly related to the movie, I just so happen to have this on hand.
🎵Oh my God, you’re so wrong.
It was Earth, all along.🎵
I love you, doctor Zauis!
Its not the end of the journey but the simians you meet along the way.
The bigger plot hole is that this is not consistent with any global warming or giant earthquake. Rising sea levels would not have a beach and rocky formation right next to statue of liberty. And a crazy violent earthquake that would move land and rock well above the statue of liberty and right next to it, would have knocked the statue over.
It turns out, that on their planet, the apes have made an exact replica of the statue of liberty
This is either satirical or the biggest WHOOSH I’ve seen so far this year.
That’s the ocean after global warming. They’re really in Las Vegas.
2001’ sea level rise, climate change is worse than I thought.
Got there via worm hole, not plot hole.
Did you even watch the movie? They explain it right away!
Someone “blew it up” and the resulting explosion launched it into space.
I’ve only watched the musical from the Simpsons.
🎶 I was wrong. It was Earth all along. 🎶
Yes, you finally made a monkey out of meeeee!!!
Doctor Zaius, Doctor Zaius…
Can i play the piano anymore?
Of course you can!
I couldn’t before!
I’ve only seen this picture. Still went “shit, yeah…”.
It was based on a movie…?
Marky Mark and the Monkey Bunch.
It was a terrorist cell “Maniacs” who blew it up.
I always thought that was silly. How did it stay so intact?
Fr*nch sent them one, duh
🤮
jk i love the fren*h
William of Normandy was my granpappy
You and everyone else’s
No, this is a misunderstanding. This is just an unusual rock formation. It has nothing to do with the actual statue, that still stands on Earth.
Oh, kinda like Mt Rushmore. Nature truly is remarkable.
*Count Rushmore
Round MushCore
Wait, that’s not Mega Maid?
Oh shit, there goes the planet.
Suck! Suck! Suck!
She’s gone from suck to blow
That’s an even better line. Very nice
It was a different statue that looked the same. Just a coincidence. It’s not that deep.
Ah, Gene Roddenberry must’ve written the movie then.
I want to think this whole thread is just whimsical, but I have to know for sure - y’all get that it’s future Earth, right?
Interesting theory.
Still not sure if you’re serious, but check out the rest of the movies or read this.
In the original novel it’s an alien planet where apes dominate humans, but in the movies humans in the near future on Earth use intelligent apes as slaves until the apes revolt and take over. Eventually a nuclear apocalypse destroys that civilization, which is followed by the less advanced one seen in the first movie. Rod Serling came up with the ending that made it future Earth.
And in the last movie they set off a doomsday weapon that destroys the whole solar system
Wow, that’s some serious doomsday shit. Tbh I burned out on the franchise and haven’t seen that one.
I think they are talking about the original set of movies. Ya thought it was only the new ones that got milked? Fuck no the original one got milked hard.
Buy why is it human? I’m just happy they fixed this oversight in the (vastly superior) 2001 remake with the Lincoln Memorial.
It’s not human, that’s just pareidolia.
Just a coincidence, it was actually shaped by erosion
They sold it, to pay for the debts after the stock market crash of 2025.
I mean copper is an expensive metal these days. Probably make mint selling Lady Liberty for scrap.
Unfortunately she’s hollow, like a shitty chocolate easter bunny.
Everyone forgets that the planet of apes is actually las vegas, if the camera where to go a little more to the left we would see a eiffel tower as well
