I’m not convinced it’s that important since the Russian people will be the ones affecting the invasion. Dramatic punctuation doesn’t change the fact that Putin has been in continuous control of Russia for decades. He’s their guy. I think the American public is complicit in genocide of Palestinians. Why would the Russian public get a pass for the misdeads of their government?

Of course they will be affected and already do be. I don‘t get the point? No, he is not. A lot of people got arrested and/or killed because they protested (way before the „special operation“) and a lot of people fled the country. Unfortunately the core state of the USSR never managed to establish a functionsl democracy. But clannishness is bullshit. Putin made himself over decades a de facto dictator - tsar? Well, dramatic punctuation does in fact emphasize core ideas: To be Russian =/= To be evil or supporting putin.

Nobody called anybody evil. This isn’t about clans. People who live in Russia (ie Russians) will be the ones on the ground doing the invading. Whether they like it or not, they are supporting Putin. It’s not really important what’s in the heart of Ivan on the ground if he’s picking up a rifle or mass producing fasteners used in the construction of tanks.

Of course, his demands are impossible. That way, he can just point to everyone else and say “see? They’re prolonging the war!“

I really wish people would stop, acting shocked and surprised when Putin and Trump do shit like this. We have known, for decades, that both of them are insane monsters. Do something!

Trump might be insane but Putin is far from it. He’s been locked in a battle for the survival of his regime (and by extension his life) for decades. He’s extremely savvy at playing the political game in Russia.

Trump basically shoots from the hip all the time and thinks only his relationships with people and his deal-making matter. He’s a sitting duck for a manipulator like Putin.

Of course, for fairness sake that would also mean no Russian troops in any russian countries bordering the West

Even if they did Russia wouldn’t be able to resist constantly antagonizing them to the point that they seek NATO membership. Thats what “NATO expansionism” is.

They’re telling me the ukrainean ““dictator”” is a world wide begger that keeps the war going to get rich. The Polish are clad with propaganda. They will be invaded by the Russians and they will love it

he’s not wrong. AfD are on the rise in Germany, NF in France, Reform in the UK. Immigration is the core issue for a huge swathe of the european population. whether you believe in russian interferance or not it wont matter when these parties get in, which they will.

There is some extremely concerning polling in the UK putting reform ahead of all of the other parties including the one currently in government.

We have some strong european leadership right now in terms of rhetoric, but macron is weak domestically, and Merz had to form a coalition to keep the AfD out

AfD is getting close to large enough to make forming a coalition to cut them out of the decision making process not possible without increasing fragile coalitions from other parties that dont work well together.

but keep ignoring the problem, sure

He’s right though. Bulgarians love Russia, because Russians kicked Turks out over a century ago. Hungary and Slovakia are full on pro Russia right now and are not even hiding it. Plenty of Polish people love PiS who are pro Russian and I have no clue how PiS lost last elections.

And the Western countries are not much different. Le Pen almost won in France, AFD and Reform are on the rise in Germany and the UK. And, holly fuck, Trump got a second term in the US.

It is utterly delusional to think that Russia lacks strong support. “Haha ruzzkies” thinking is only playing into Putin’s hand.

PiS pro-russian? what the fuck are you talking about

you can say a lot about them, they’re corrupt, they dismantled judiciary, they’re anti-EU, they’re nationalist, they are republican cocksuckers, but they’re not pro-russian

e: just like 2 days ago i’ve heard that Duda wants Americans to station nuclear weapons in Poland. that’s pro-russian PiS for you. who do you think are these supposed to be used against, aliens?

so, NATO’s surrender then… as a condition of a cease-fire with Ukraine… which isn’t a NATO member… which Putin invaded ostensibly to prevent it from joining NATO. right…

sure, I think we can do that. no Western troops, no problem! we’ll just give them each a few dozen hydrogen bombs, and call it even.

A few dozen hydrogen bombs each? Sir, this is Europe! We won’t have such uncivilised weapons that could be used for discriminatory purposes in our beautiful continent.

No, the only solution is for every country in the EU, NATO, or bordering Russia to be equipped with a Project Sundial device. It’s the only way to preserve European unity.

If built and detonated, Sundial would have created a fireball up to 50 kilometers (30 miles) in diameter, instantly igniting everything within 400 kilometers (250 miles) and causing a magnitude 9 earthquake. It was thought that the explosion would lead to an apocalyptic nuclear winter, drastically lowering global temperatures and contaminating water sources, resulting in mass fatalities.

If detonated at an altitude of 28 miles (45 km) the Sundial device could ignite fires across an area the size of France.

The fuck is wrong with us?

that’s 50s nuclear weapons development for ya
