Been doing a huge amount of work around the house lately in the holidays.
Currently power washing the pavers out back and filling the joins with sand. Should be more fun tomorrow.

I dunno about all driers, maybe not heat pump ones which have a reservoir for the steam / moisture to collect? But standard driers, yeah. Usually done in apartments with limited space for wall mounting above a top load washer (which are very common here), and let you reach the dial.

Yeah, this seems like it would be potentially an issue if the idler wheels aren’t designed to support the drum weight like this.
Edit: looks like there are a couple brands that allow this, Electrolux being one.

It’s not. The dryer need to be installed ‘upside down’ so the heat radiates down (from our perspective) to the northern hemisphere.

Yes thats correct, the official instructions tell you to mount it upside down and the kit it comes with only works one way.

The exhaust vent can be angled right towards the window, or alternatively, ducted out the window.

I take it you don’t live in the sort of place where winter means it’s dry as hell for months such that using a dryer box (basically a trap filled with water to catch lint, but exhausting the damp air into the living space) is desirable?
A wall mounted dryer like this would actually be great in my space. We don’t have them here afaik, but it would allow me to put my dryer box in line with the units rather than taking up extra space off to the side like the stacked configuration needs.

i’ve always heard bad things about those covered ones holding in smells and making your cat less like to use them… especially with the roll ones?
Ill update if that happens but I like to think I’m pretty good on the tools to avoid that.
Is that drier made to be hanged like that or have you improvised?
I have a condenser drier but it does have a hose outlet to connect it to a drain. I wouldn’t trust it to be on its head though
Made for it - comes with a kit to wall mount if required.

It doesnt really vibrate much, simple belt driven barrel and a heating element.
The thing is 40kg fully loaded so it would take a fair whack for it to come off the mount which is supported across 3 studs.
This is the opposite of Dull. This is one of the most interesting things I’ve seen today.
First off, building laundry shelves is awesome, I’ve been dreaming of making improvements to my laundry room for almost 5 years now, and I still haven’t done it. So heck yeah man that’s awesome.
Secondly, that upside down wall mounted dryer is blowing my mind! Like what the heck! I didn’t know you could do that! Does that work? Do you just get used to all the labeling being unreadable? That’s insane! I mean, I get it, it puts the door closer to the ground, but I never would’ve thought that would work. Does it dry better or worse than if it were right side up? Does the lint trap still trap lint as well or do your clothes end up a little more… Fuzzy? Idk how to even tell if one dryer leaves more lint on clothes than others.
I’m so intrigued.

Well to try and answer your questions:
- It does work
- Its not really unreadable so its fine
- I think it dries the same, I’d have to ask my other half
- The lint trap still works well because its vented so the air still passes through it
We’ve been using it the right way up for years so lint had collected in the botton of the actual unit and when I mounted it upside down that all fell through the unit body. It did cause it to smell like burning fabric for the first 30 mins running it upside down down but I just stood next to it with a fire extinguisher until it “burnt off” the smell you could say.
Now been running perfectly with no burning smell for 10ish loads of laundry!
Hah! That’s funny that it had to burn off the old lint. That’s pretty dang cool that it can be used that way.
I absolutely hate putting shelves up. Something about the amount of measuring required, and it’s so unforgiving if it’s even slightly wonky.
The wall on the left is out of level by about 15mm bottom to top. However I have a laser level and it makes life very easy when needing to do any of this stuff.
Second vote for a laser level. It’s still miserable, but easier.
Nothing quite like lining things up with the ceiling, getting out the level, and realizing your house isn’t level.
Is that a condensing dryer? Or vented?

Condensing ones do exist, but I guarantee you one of those won’t work upside down so it’s probably a good job that’s not what you’ve got. They have a catch basin in them for the extracted water inside someplace, and the results would be predictable if gravity were inverted. A heat pump dryer also wouldn’t work upside down (to put it mildly) but one with a regular resistive element obviously will.
Was the manufacturer kind enough to give you a sticker with all of the control markings written upside down as well?
They absolutely were not but its just a dial with numbers and a hot/cold toggle, nothing too dramatic.

Where did you get the shelf boards and how much were they, if I may ask?
All from Hammerbarn, I think 20 bucks a shelf I cant remember. Rails were 20 each and the shelf arms were a few bucks each.
