  • Personally i find star wars to be fine but not great. It has interesting lore and whatnot but on the whole it mostly just feels ok. The exception (to me) is the mandalorian. Where the main star wars films are (sort of) a soap opera in space (space opera), the mandalorian is a space western, and a pretty well done one. It takes 2 episodes or so to pick up the pace, but i found it to be really enjoyable.

  • I mentioned it above, but i think you should check out “campfire cooking in a strange world with my unique skill.” There’s some monster violence but no people get hurt, for what that’s worth. Overall, thematically, it’s very light and comedic. There might be a few curse words but nothing crazy i don’t think…

i wasn’t watching it with the lens of how it would be for children so your mileage may vary, but it was very light-hearted and silly.

  • Right but unfortunately it took away almost all of the roleplaying aspects and ruined the dialogue. The lead designer even acknowledged that this was the case.

The story itself in fallout has always been pretty good, but the roleplaying, dialogue, and how you got there were what really set games like fallout 2 apart from the competition.

Yes i played fallout 4 so I’m familiar with most if not all of those plot points, but that isn’t what I’m criticizing. The story was ok, it was just told poorly. It was the story telling, dialogue, and roleplaying that suffered

Also, charles Barkley shut up and jam gaiden is effectively a fallout-esque RPG basketball game. I could take all of the aspects you said in your linked post and make them background noise to a diamond City basketball tournament. Checks all the boxes, but it feels wrong. This is how i feel about fallout 4.

I think this is a bit of a fallacy. While i agree on the premise that if it’s a fun game it’s fun, where is the line? The fallout series was primarily very story driven for over 20 years. If it doesn’t matter, then make it something completely off the wall - fallout 5 - the basketball drama. Life in a post apocalyptic Indiana isn’t easy, but what’s even more difficult is getting to the championship. Changes to stat scaling include sharpshooting, which improves your 3 point shot. There’s potential here.

At some point, you build a reputation and a fan base. I’m glad some people enjoy the game for what it is, but what i want is a new story that made me feel like fallout 2 did. New Vegas was the closest one. Fo4 wasn’t it.

It’s a standard that the series built for itself.

  • Maybe! But the cinnamon by itself is kinda bitter.

I’m also just staring at the 6 sugar cubes (that are visible) and wondering how good could that coffee actually be if it’s only good with that much sugar.

High quality and properly made coffee doesn’t typically need a lot of sugar. I understand some people always want a little sweetener, but if the coffee was actually good it wouldn’t be quite that much

  • I’m not sure how to respond as i feel my point was completely taken out of context. I’m not criticizing the person, I’m criticizing the product.

I’m in no way shape or form suggesting that people can or can not enjoy things how they enjoy them. I am asserting that, on average, people who overuse sugar in coffee are consuming excessively bitter coffee that needs the sugar to balance it out.

Over roasting coffee is an actual tactic by businesses that allows them to find the cheapest bean sourcing available but maintain a consistent flavor. Actual good coffee can be costly, and every detail (soil ph, rainfall, temperature, altitude, etc) can change the flavor. Consumers offset the resulting bitterness from over roasting with excess sugar. The combination of over roasting and using sugar to cover it up also makes it hard to notice when the coffee is stale.

Examples of these kind of over roasted options would be any coffee in any diner, any chain coffee shop that has a dedicated national roaster, and most coffee available at a grocery store.

My follow on point is that if this dude is actually a coffee superhero, his coffee wouldn’t have this issue. If his coffee still has this issue, why did they waste a precious slot on him when they could just grab starbucks?

My initial comment was an attempt to be a bit silly, but thank you for the personal attack.

  • Sorry i meant that as a theoretical response to the character in the meme.

I personally thought fo4 was ok, but they intentionally dumbed down the dialogue and roleplaying, which ruined my immersion. Once i said “no i will not attack the railroad,” and the brotherhood laughed at me and said yeah anyway (the railroad is now hostile), that kinda ruined my fun.

  • Sure but then why bother wasting a valued superhero position on him if it’s just all sugar anyway? There’s only one spot available apparently, just use a drip machine.

Separately, I’m also convinced that many (not all) of those people are drinking bad coffee. As a small anecdotal example (i know this isn’t proof), i know people who are like this, and when i make them a good cup, they need much less or sometimes no sugar.

Properly made coffee, at worst, needs much less sugar than what people are usually drinking
