So you defend what is otherwise marketable trash? Wow, so cool…
How about you go and make rips and tears in every single pair of pants you have and see how you feel afterwards.

This is how they want things designed. They want us to just consume, consume and consume. Then just dump away whatever we previously enjoyed because they really believe that we have short-term memories or that we won’t ever revisit what we once enjoyed. They want you to think that there is a limit to everything when the obvious truth of the matter when it comes to digitally available items is that there is no such thing.
You can keep a file going and going by transferring, it’ll last as long as you intend it to last up until you lose interest or die.
Hell, they’ve gone after the Internet Archive, which has been compared to today as the modern burning of Alexandria. They just don’t want anything preserved, regardless of how old it is and how long it has been since the creator or anyone involved has died. Nostalgia is just simply another marketing strategy and that has long been put to practice for a good long while now.
Limited physical goods is one thing, we can’t promise about how long we’ll have the resources for to continue making physical things, I get that.
But digital mediums and trying to limit ‘stock’ is such a laughable concept to me.
Okay doomer.
Ok doomer.
I hate having to store hop. This happens all of the time to me with Dollar Tree. I live near like 6 dollar tree stores. I’ll be looking for, say, work gloves. So I go to the one next to me, shit, they don’t have it, well now I gotta decide how far I want to go to the next one. I go to the second closest, fuck, they have gloves but not the kind I’m used to. Fuck, gotta go to the third one but now that’s a little further away because I had to drive a bit away from the other two. Same applies to other stores.
It is just simply a decentralized social network, you register and treat it like as if it is any other social network.
I work retail and we’ve had an onslaught of freight. Until there is ever a day when I come into work and I’m told or I see that there is nothing to stock - I’ll be concerned. Until then, what is there to prepare for?
Milk and oatmeal.
Golden Raisins and Oatmeal.
They never were. Fashion in general is just dumb.
I never understood why deliberately weathering hats and clothes as well as making them faded or rip was ‘fashionable’. I think it is just a mockery on those that can’t afford overpriced clothing, so it’s like “here! we’re pandering to your demographic! it is cheap now!”. Then again even when “new” ripped jeans are being sold, it’s marked up too.
For quite a while, yes.
Anytime I see headlines that say “you won’t guess what’s next!” “you won’t believe this!” or any other variation is a immediate avoid.
I think Lemmy owes itself a savedyouaclick instance.
I don’t see a thing wrong when someone is looking out for themselves. We all have to, at somepoint or another or we won’t know how to survive on ourselves when situations boil down to just us alone.
Now as far as bonding together and getting mutually along with eachother to co-exist without bumping eachother or touching people’s buttons? yeah that’s a tricky one and usually makes everyone fall apart. The societal and political climates of today seems destined to break those bonds.
A sense of arbitrary power and control.
Feels like a lot of programs that I use. It is like, if they’re still working as is and nothing is happening to them, why bother?
But specifically, my pick is Windows. I have the most lapsed way of handling Windows OSes over the years.
I was on Windows 98 and it lasted until roughly mid-2000s did I finally get on Windows XP. Didn’t touch Vista. Didn’t touch 7. Got into Windows 8 mid-2010s after buying a friend’s PC. Didn’t get on Windows 10 until a few years ago. Not going to touch Windows 11.
Trump’s should be a series of farts, shit dumps and loud pissing.
Uh, no? You don’t know how Open-Source works. Floorp can technically be self-funded because it gets grants and donations to sustain its development. You act like everything relies on Google’s funding when that’s not entirely true.
It does not really matter anymore how this situation is going to be handled from here on and hasn’t mattered in a few months.
Israel irrevocably committed genocide, using the same terrorist-excuse tactic the Americans/Bush did in the 2000s. Just so they can roll all over everyone they saw as an enemy besides Hamas. History will not forget this.
No. We’ll just use Firefox forks. Seriously, why do people always think there’s either Chrome or Firefox in this world? Are you too scared of difference and alternatives?
Yes it is. That’s reality for you. If Free Speech was applicable outside the government - how come you can be banned for what you say on social media, huh?
Sounds like someone doesn’t know the constitution and comes off as a sovereign citizen.
So why do you pirate then?
The main reasons people pirate are:
Don’t get me wrong, I would have happily bought a copy if it was available. But because of 1, 3, 4 and 5 alone completely justifies pirating.
