  • Simple: they wouldn’t work that way.

Left anarchism, like everything left, only works on paper.

    Here’s a few holes:

    • Who decides who is and isn’t an expert? Jim Jones was considered an expert by the Jonestown people, RFK is considered one by maga.

    • Assuming we find a way to establish an “expert” category of citizens, that’s already hierarchical. You now have a ruling class since these people get more of a say than the average person by virtue of their role, and don’t have a completely flat anarchist society anymore but instead a sort of representative technocracy.

    • Moreover anarchist societies are supposed to not employ coercion, so even if you had experts whose opinion dictates norms, how are you going to enforce them?

Anarchists (left and right) reinvent the state, just shittier, less consistent, and without founding principles, every time they are put in front of the practical needs of a society where not everyone agrees with them.

Some go as far as inventing authoritarian oligarchies, just ones they happen to agree with and thus support.

Lemmy suffers from the “alt-tech curse” in that since there is perfectly serviceable, normie friendly tech, for someone to come to the alternative you have to be not so normie.

Gab, Parler, Voat back in the day, Mastodon and Lemmy, bluesky, etc are all part of the same phenomenon of micro-exodi from established sites due to fitting poorly with existing moderation which, given the fact normies still use the sites, means we’re always looking at extremists of some kind.

Whether it’s the tankies on lemmy.ml, or the progs on bluesky, or the tradcons on parler and gab, it’s always some group being told “if you don’t like it here go make your own” and them doing it.

The problem is this makes these environments extremely off-putting to normies as every single motherfucker on each of these platforms has at least a Bachelor’s degree in scaring the hoes.

The reality is, if you want normie content, you’re gonna find it on platforms used by normies.

Lemmy is too niche to have karma farming bots reposting the same shit every hour, so cat videos etc are in short supply, and most of the people who do participate here have scary levels of politics brainrot.

  • I don’t know if you’re just not a sports person so you don’t follow enough to know, but it’s not a gender issue, it’s a sex issue, and it’s not a debate unless you literally never look at data.

    Here are some examples:

100 Metres dash: every one of the last 25 male world records is faster than the current female world record (and thus every previous one), every continental record is higher than its female counterpart.

100 Metres freestyle swimming same for both long course and short course.

The Williams sisters challenged “any male top tennis player outside the top 200” claiming they could beat any of them and number 203 beat both in the same afternoon, after playing golf in trhe morning and drinking alcohol at lunchtime.

This has nothing to do with transgender rights and what trans people choose to identify as or whether they should be allowed to get surgeries or hormones or anything of the sort, sports are segregated by sex, not by gender, and there is no surgery to reverse male puberty.

Male puberty is akin to a years long round of doping, it literally releases testosterone into the body and, while some markers regress upon taking estrogen long enough (bone density and muscle density most of all), some aspects will never regress, like lung capacity and limb length, both of which are massive advantages in most sports.

There are some sports where this division is unnecessary, famously sport shooting records are very close, with women’s records outclassing men’s records more than a few times, if you ask the federations why this separation persists the answer is almost invariably to encourage females to participate as an “open” league rarely sees female participants.

However, in any sport where physical prowess is a factor, the sex separation exists for a reason. It’s not an -ism, it’s an exclusion for the benefit of females to be able to participate in the sport alongside people who don’t have an in-built biological advantage over them.
