The problem with Youtube (and the internet and world in general) is that we are deep, deep in a crisis of authority. For every channel that has honest, expert information about a subject, there are a dozen others with laypeople sharing their lay opinions about it with varying degrees of understanding.
So those of us who actually care about getting the information from someone who is actually an authority on the issue have had to learn the visual shorthand that can help us tell the difference. It’s obviously not always true, but generally clickbaity images and headlines are a big red flag that the source is more interested in getting views than getting it right.
Naturally that is getting harder and harder too because the experts have learned this and feel forced to follow along with their own clickbaity headlines and images.
IMO it’s a serious problem and one that may not have a solution but still desperately needs to be solved. We absolutely cannot have proper functioning democracies if it’s difficult for the public to get the truth.
