About three-quarters of Americans support the release of all files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, a new PBS News/NPR/Marist poll finds.

Another 13% want some of the Epstein files released, while only 9% don’t want any documents released.

Once newly elected Rep. Adelita Grijalva, D-Ariz., is sworn in, she is expected to sign on to a House effort to make the files public. Grijalva, the daughter of late Rep. Raúl Grijalva, would provide the critical 218th signature to force a vote over the majority threshold. But House Speaker Mike Johnson has delayed swearing in the new lawmaker, saying it would not happen until regular session resumes next week, a move that Grijalva sees as intentional in order to push off the Epstein petition.

I want them released too, but here’s the thing:

From everything I see in the US, I genuinely don’t think it’ll make any difference

This. If we aren’t doing impeachment on blatantly attacking our right to free speech, instituting martial law, and attempting to jail political rivals. How is him being involved in pedo shit going to suddenly shift the tide?

Fair, I should have qualified it as “otherwise somewhat intelligent”

Like, after some recent Trump fuckery in recent months past, I wanted to know what an otherwise not-entirely-braindead old classmate of mine, later turned conservative radio pundit, thought of the mess; I then soon discovered that he’s currently in prison for kiddy diddling.

Yeah agree. I don’t even understand why any republicans bother with deciding they don’t want them released, knowing they’re all just gonna ignore them anyway.

        It’s performative

Republicans only do things for one of two reasons

They want to hurt people or they want to be seen as doing something that their supporters like, (usually hurting people)
