I have a few theories, the main one being the mutual Islamophobia.

Israelis are also huge tourists in India, there are towns with everything in Hebrew to cater towards them. So there is a positive economic association with them in this way, plus Israelis love co opting Hindu religious aesthetics as a form of new age mysticism.

Another thing I heard recently but don’t know much about is Israelis paying Indians to be hasbara bots and promote Israel online. So maybe some Indians don’t really feel committed to Israel but literally are paid to say things online in support of Israel

Yes both Zionism and Hindutva are fascistic and Islamophobic ideologies, Modi and RSS are very jealous of how Isntreal has become real.

These same people can unironically be seen supporting China after hearing and believing Uyghur genocide myths.

Probably closely related to all the new-age/yoga fascist pipelining that’s been increasing over the last decade. Just a remix of the old nazi mysticism with new signifiers.

It was already popular in Germanic nationalist movements and with certain wealthy elites by the end of the 1800s is my understanding. And they certainly co-opted it from the fashion for orientalist mysticism and creating repurposed esoteric symbolism for their private societies.

The Nazis took it from there in the twenties with the formation of the party, using the colours (red, black, white) from the flag of the old German empire, and then Hitler fiddled with it a bit.

I can’t remember where it’s from, but there’s a piece of writing by Hitler where he’s doing a very ‘graphic design is my passion’ thing about what a genius he is for changing the thickness of the swastika and finding just the right size of circle. That paragraph or two are far more embarrassing than all the rest of the failed painter stuff.
