I was really disappointed by how the Venusian surface sections played in that game. Yeah I know it was just a silly shooter but they made like zero effort to make Venus feel like Venus. Just put on a helmet or something, that’ll do I guess. Oh yeah and your guns will work fine too at 464C and 92 times the surface pressure of Earth
Tbf they handwave it a little bit by having your fancy scifi nazi spacesuit require constant coolant refills otherwise you roast alive - still could’ve been a little bit more involved
same. i’m kind of obsessed with alien planetary environments and exoplanets (born too early, wish I was a sapient von neuman probe)
should be like walking on the ocean floor combined with thermal haze. everything in slow motion and inevitable heat buildup. i know there’s magic alloys that probably get stronger at higher pressures in game
you would basically need a full powered exoskeleton diving suit and firearms would have to be mini guided torpedoes. you are swimming in supercritical CO2
if I designed that level, i would have the surface dotted with giant heat exchangers that climb high into the atmosphere which you have to plug your suit into every 10 minutes to dump waste heat
and with a successful torpedo penetration on an enemy i want to see them implode into a burst of glowing organic matter and melting polymers, like a much hotter Cyclops sub implosion
It was especially disappointing since the moon base level from New Order was one of the coolest parts of that game and I think they did a pretty decent job with the moon walk sections. The Venus stuff from New Colossus just felt like a lazy rehash
yeah i loved the moon base level. the audio design was great (just sounds transmitted through your suit) and it was fun hopping around and rapidly adapting to low-G combat
i almost wished it lasted longer but it was probably just enough to not get stale

Or at least some kind of sci-fi tech to terraform Venus somewhat.
