Socialism will never work because it’s founded on emancipation, and you can’t force people to emancipate themselves. That would be the opposite of emancipation.

I’m not sure if this is a quote, I can’t remember where I heard it.

No. Socialism isn’t based on vague concepts like emancipation, and further it does work, we have historical and present evidence affirming it. Socialism is a mode of production, it isn’t a virtue or moral.

So how can you convince someone that switching to a socialist mode of production will give them more free time, less stress about having basic needs met, and maybe even access to really good housing, healthcare, and education for their kids… and get them on board?

I can see how the “emancipation” aspect was vague (you can’t read my mind?!). What I meant was that going from having to work at KFC as a working poor under capitalism to choosing to work at a chicken joint under socialism is an emancipation from wage slavery, and emancipation of the human in general. I would think the KFC worker would jump at the opportunity for a socialist revolution, but that is not the case and the concept I posted resonated with my observation so I figured I’d ask the dope ass bear.

I think, ultimately, what you’re noticing is low levels of class awareness and a low level of understanding of socialism. This is where the classic “educate, agitate, organize” comes in.

        1. Education. I personally made an introductory Marxist-Leninist reading list, I share it with people I talk to online if they seem like they’d find it useful. I also try to talk to people about socialism in general.

        2. Agitate. By constantly protesting, using good agitprop, making videos, etc and reaching the working class, people become more familiarized with socialism.

        3. Organize. Party building and doing good direct action earns the trust of the working class and embeds them in the movement for socialism. Groups like PSL and FRSO are good orgs in the US empire, as examples.

All 3 are the basic tasks of any revolutionary.
