While I agree that no hall effect joysticks for the follow-up to the stick drift poster boy is ridiculous, as someone who doesn’t play racing games, I find the trend to having analogue triggers as a selling point rather annoying; mostly due to travel distance.
I totally see why it would be important for racing games and mario sunshine was definitely not the same on the switch with digital triggers. I would love to see more games utilize analogue triggers for input variation but unfortunately all you get more button travel distance.
But let’s not even get into the mid-ness and total underutilization of the PS5 “adaptive triggers”
The ps5 adaptive triggers are super cool imo but definitely underutilized. As far as travel distance I feel like devs could easily set it to count as a press after traveling a relatively short distance and have it be negligible? There’s also controller where you can adjust the travel distance like the dualsense edge but no shot would nintendo implement that in a joycon
The 8bitdo Ultimate 2 has physical switches that change its triggers from analog to digital. Probably still too much to expect Nintendo to implement, but having the choice is nice.
