Humans are weird. So much focus on competition, when ecologists understand symbiosis and niches dominate and competition plays a relatively minor part.

It makes for good TV seeing the Lions and Hyenas in a struggle for a gazelle, but bees pollinating flowers that grow fruit that birds eat to shit seeds that land in self fertilized soil full of microbes that decompose the shit to the soil so the plant can spread and grow is a far more dominant process.
