Ain’t like it was in mid-2023. The tankies mostly stay off of .world anymore, thank the gods.

I left the night of the election, when literally all of lemmy was screaming that a vote for Harris was voting for genocide.

        Fucking morons.

Don’t worry, now that their favorite fascist is in power, they’re [checks notes]

… complaining that Dems aren’t doing enough.

I mean, Dems aren’t doing enough, but one would think that with a strategy like “ensure the Dems lose” one might have some sort of alternate method for dealing with the consequences of ‘success’.

You have utterly and completely misunderstood the goal all along.

The goal was never improving things, or helping people.

The real goal, the only goal that truly matters, is being able to feel superior behind their keyboards/phones , it’s knowing that everyone else is evil and stupid and weak, and if they only did exactly whatever crazy idea you had last night in your pot-fueled hallucinations, then everything would be perfect.

But those in power can’t admit how wrong/evil/stupid they are, so everybody has to suffer.

It’s exactly the same as southern baptists celebrating when a hurricane hits because it’s a clear sign God hates gays.

Don’t get me wrong, the right is just cruel, vicious, evil, but the left is something almost worst: Hipsters.

It’s interesting that diplomatic messages said 10,000 were killed. The current Chinese government claims 241 died. Guess we’ll never know because they incinerated the APC paste and washed that down the drain.

The one message that basically said that his source heard from a good friend this happened?

The diplomatic messages sent from the British ambassador that was out of the country at the time?

There’s a lot to say about the protests then but honestly I have seen zero convincing evidence that tanks were used in this way. (Specifically, to “mash” a number of people into “paste” to later be “washed down the drain”.)

Seems like an ahistorical lie pushed by propaganda, which would weaken any legitimate criticism you might have. Better to be accurate. But I’m open to any sources you might have.

Of course not. I’m not saying nobody died or nothing happened… I’m just specifically disputing this claim I’ve heard that they ran over a large number of people and “washed them down the drain”. There’s a few photos such as your link that show an isolated person or two who had been run over, but nothing to the extent of the claims that they had “mashed” hundreds or thousands and “washed” them away.

What part of it was an atrocity again?

          Golly gee I wonder

Also why do you think Chinese people don’t learn about it?

Because the Chinese government’s official line is that the protesters were violent thugs who had it coming, Jesus fucking Christ.

Really, even the CIA backed unregistered ‘student’ protestors that killed the cops, starting the entire affair? I thought you’d be into that.

And yes, we are taught it. It’s a great intro to international affairs and interference in China. At least most academies teach it, some focus on history that matters, like why the US decided to fund fascists for half of its existence.

I am intrigued - it sounds like much of the rest of the world have a very different version to what you are claiming China teaches.

If it was a CIA job and one that is so blatant that it is taught in schools, you would think it would be more known. I shall have to do some reading maybe - any starting points you can recommend with historical citations?

                Sure, https://www.qiaocollective.com/education/tiananmenreadinglist

It’s really not a secret what the rest of the world knows about the incident, outside the West.

You guys are in a self imposed information bubble based on the idea that the West can do no wrong and if the West does something wrong then whoever they did it to deserved it.

Like pearl harbor, I know for a fact it’s taught that it was an unprovoked surprise attack in US schools, when in reality the US deserved it, really earned that attack. And as a dual citizen of at least one country that hates Japan for their war crimes, that’s hard to say.
