what was the old way? I never really saw it used before the current use. afaik it either is to be taken literally as saying dead/death, or as tongue in cheek “haha this is painful / cringe”
for example: “oh of course this company sends you in an endless loop from the general help page to a specific help page back to the general help page, neither of which have the resources promised by the other page” — “💀”
