  • On Wednesday, Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s chief executive, met with President Trump at the White House and agreed to give the federal government its 15 percent cut, essentially making the federal government a partner in Nvidia’s business in China, said the people familiar with the deal. The Commerce Department began granting licenses for A.I. chip sales two days later, these people said.

Sounds very unusual, so Nvidia is giving a kickback to the White House? No matter how I look at it, I can’t see how this isn’t a conflict of interest. I’m quite certain that someone will say the 15% kickback will be used in R&D etc to stay ahead the competitors but where do you draw the line between revenues and national interest?

  • I have a very short attention span unfortunately, if I get bored after 10 minutes I move on to another. It’s not uncommon for me to watch a movie in 2 sittings due to time, work, gym etc. Weekends if I’m not gaming then I’ll be able to watch a few movies in 1 go.

I really like Foxx, Leguizamo and De Niro, that’s the only reason why I finished it. The same reason why I watched Armor and Alarum “starring” Stallone, but compared to these 2, Tin Soldier is perhaps a bit better lol, surprisingly I actually watched both these movies in 1 sitting.

  • Thanks for the comment!

Just like any book, you can walk away from a shite movie, too.

Hahah, you’re right, I probably should have walked away from this but I really like De Niro… still don’t know why I punished myself but oh well.

Also, OP, with respect: De Niro is a personal metric for quality? Ya lost me. AFAICT, De Niro hasn’t been a reliable performer for a long time, (sighs in The Irishman) … but I’m genuinely curious about your take on that.

The last few movies (Killers of the Flower Moon, Father of the Bride, Part 3) and TV shows (Zero Day, The Wizard of Lies) I watched, I really enjoyed. I actually liked the Irishman! I really do enjoy a good script and good actors, but it’s debatable what appeals to me might not necessarily appeal to another person. Are the recent content as good as say Casino, Taxi Driver, Heat etc… I don’t think so.

  • The zombie “titties” and naked women are there too, absolutely, but there’s something uniquely ludicrous about the film’s focus on swinging, sprinting masculinity, a kind of visual punchline to apocalypse. And we don’t see this in movies very often. I actually thought the Alpha was Jason Mamoa for some reason, had to pause to Google it as I was pretty sure he wasn’t in this movie.
