I’m someone who prides myself on being able to bring sets of heavy barbel squats to failure, but it has its downsides. For one, it’s just very mentally demanding, and there is a fear factor to overcome.
Empathise with this completely. Truly wonder how I get it done every week.
I’ve sort of improvised this with a cable pulley machine but it’s nowhere near as good as the real thing. Really miss having access to both this and a hack squat machines at commercial gyms. I should go back to one someday, if only for the AC.

Genuinely miss the camaraderie - some of my best friends were people at the gym; never learned each others names. never needed to.
On the other hand, not having to wait for a squat rack to free up is a blessing in and of itself 😅
