Europe@feddit.org•One in five people in Brussels, Belgium now bike to work, as bicycling rates have jumped 40% in just five years.English
8·13 hours agoThe most scientifically rigorous and trustable carbon credit market possible is a system where people are bribed to bicycle to work instead of driving their car.
Would it still be a market full of people bullshitting and taking the bribe while still driving to work? Probably. Would people end up enjoying the benefits of bicycling so much they don’t even need to be bribed? Probably but is that actually technically even a fail state of a carbon credit system? Even considered in the worst light a Carbon Credit Bicycle Bribing System would still be an order of magnitude less full of bullshit and fraud than in the currently existing carbon credit markets so I think it would it be a net benefit to the earth to abandon current fantasies and refocus entirely on bribing people to bicycle to work.
Now that is a dish I would reflect!
It does make the warp coil struts look like little humanoid stick drawing arms holding up drink trays, which I appreciate.

5·1 day agoHELL YES Brigador is so freakin good.
I once described Brigador as the side project to a darkwave/synthwave cyberpunk concept album that does perfect justice to the album in every moment, every interaction and every gameplay beat and if anything with time I have only come to agree with that conclusion more. Don’t get me wrong, this is a fully fleshed out highly replayable game, it is just the vision of this game is so inspired that the whole thing levitates, even when you are browsing menus looking up information about various tanks and hovercrafts, it still oozes style in a way that is extremely impressive.
Brigador’s soundtrack is by Makeup And Vanity Set, it is absolute fire and so is Brigador.

warning - please do not listen to these albums while piloting a mech, otherwise you may wake up in a haze of explosions to realize you overthrew the world government to allow an offworld corporation to enter the domestic market and now you are racing to a rocket to get off the planet before the local militia subdues your walking battlehulk of destruction.
They listen if you listen
In a fantasy world version of the US, conservatives do that, in the real world US the minute you start doing that you have abandoned what it means to be a conservative.
What ICE is doing is way worse than what happens on the internet…? Most of the stuff on the internet is words, ICE is actually kidnapping, killing and deporting people.
You can put a clause in the license saying the software cannot be used for the dissemination of hate speech. The open source community has discussed this and decided it goes against the principles of free software and open source.
Says who? How can you authoritatively say the open source community has decided something collectively on this subject? That categorically doesn’t make sense on multiple different dimensions.
I don’t need Nintendo DRM in my dog, that is a dormg and those are nowhere near as nice.

Europe@europe.pub•Europe's rules-based trade an "advantage in global economy", but continent must be "more confrontational" to defend its own interests, German economist says
5·2 days agoOur funding programmes are strongly geared towards production, but too little towards innovation. At the same time, we keep putting obstacles in the way of start-ups and established companies: high tax burden, high levies for skilled workers, low flexibility in the internal market. Good specialists prefer to go to the USA or the UK.
This is nonsense, like most of the accepted “facts” in economics…
Yup, boomers took the easy way out and drowned themselves in work rather than organize to change the system.
I know this is a hot take but boomers who don’t even know how to live without working after they have been on this planet for decades are pathetic, second in blame only to the cruel system that diminished them to shadows of their past selves.
Speaking to boomers here - shut up, turn your TV set to fox news off and take up birding or something else actually real, your work identity is a flimsy illusion of self, you need to actively explore who you are not contract it out to your job you old hateful, childish vampires of humanities’ future.
…and yes before the inveitable “not all Boomers!”, I know.
