Sure, I’m having a good time with it. It’s still on sale for 20-something € on steam (or you can just pirate it and it’s on sale for 0€, wow!!)
I’ve only been playing in the free-build sandbox edit mode (Sandbox mode on the main menu and then Edit property instead of Play when you load a save, you have infinite everything and can noclip). I bought the game just for the free-build mode in the first place. I don’t think they even had that in the first game. I haven’t actually played the “real” game/campaign yet, where I guess you kind of earn cash money by cleaning and fixing up existing houses? idk, that just sounds like work.
Some observations I’ve had so far:
- Performance seems good. It’s not very demanding on low settings, but can get pretty heavy if you turn on global illumination and stuff.
- The controls for moving stuff around can be a bit cumbersome. No keybind for swapping back and forth between move and rotate and toggling snap to grid so you have to click the buttons every god damn time.
- The selection of furniture isn’t exactly enormous. Still good enough to get the general vibe right most of the time, but sometimes you have to stack two identical closets on top of each other and clip them together a bit to get the right height and stuff like that. There’s an object called “Cube” that you can scale and rotate and paint however you want to kind of manually make stuff, I’ve used it a lot to make e.g. legs for a floor cabinet to give it some height and to make handrails for my staircases because there weren’t any suitable ones in the game.
- It doesn’t support any custom content like furniture and wallpaper yet, only custom pictures. Weird, since the first game had it. Apparently this is on the developers’ roadmap for 2 as well.
You can have some of mine bro I don’t need it
