I am seeing reading ability go up in middle school. There was a huge drop as the wave of elementry year covid wave of students go through. My current students were in 1st grade when they were sent home and are far better at reading and writing than the group I had 2 years ago who missed 3rd grade. I blame designers for everything. Keeps the fads and fashion for the well-to-do. The average person needs function first. Why would anything I want to buy for regular use be available seasonally or only come in over the top fancy plastic shapes with weird colors and breaks with less than 100 hours of use. I have a kitchen and office because I use them, not because it accents my overpriced home. I have worked in merchandising from many angles and it sickens me. Even what should be simple packaging on almost all retail products is overdesigned and printed full of lies. And the worst part is the cost of the product is directly related to design.
