I think the key issue was lack of transparency around donations from the OrganicMaps owners. Article summary: https://www.comaps.app/news/2025-05-29/ITs-FOSS-NEWS--Organic-Maps-Forked-Over-Governance-Concerns-CoMaps-is-Born/ The open letter that startet CoMaps: https://openletter.earth/open-letter-to-organic-maps-shareholders-a0bf770c
Depends firstly what you are building. For a Node backend, it of course matters a lot. For a JS frontend you always only ship a fraction of the dependency code, so the meme doesn’t really apply. Modern JS frameworks are alright as long as you know what you are doing 🙂
Is there even a way to use MS365 office on Linux? Otherwise you kind of have to ditch MS Office anyways. Unless you count the browser version
He is just coping because they fucked up establishing their own hosted solution. Companies are not buying advanced SaaS solutions that only hyper-scalers provide. For SAP they buy beefy VMs and S3 for backup. Both of these are available on any hoster.
Also energy prices are such a dumb argument not to build data centers in Europe. Where does he think aws-eu-west 1-3 get their energy from?

Frankly, the only respectable way to do it!
Very interesting recent video on the topic of recycling, plastics and activism around it, if you have some spare time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOtrvBdRx8I
Was ein bullshit Artikel. Da hypen die öffis irgendnen VC Start-up, Qualitätsjournalismus. Danke.
Ugh get out of here with that conspiracy garbage. The American people want that orange twat, get over it or do something about it.
Guess I’ll stick with my GTX 1070TI until next century when GPU manufacturers have passed the bong to someone else. Prices are insane for the performance they provide these days.
I think you are allowed to send an email (or even real mail!) to any address publicly associated with the company and they are required to handle it appropriately. Means, you can get the address from the impressum/about page (which they are also legally required to have) and send it there.
Not sure you want to celebrate that your currency could be used to pay for non-consentual slop pornography…
Wow, I’ve seen some scuffed setups and abusing a trial that much is something else. But also odd of the company to not notice this in 10 years. Maybe their sales process needs a makeover. Also I would expect such trial abuse to be a ToS violation. And at that scale I’d suspect with legal consequences.
Hm sounds more like just a web scrape to me. I.e. someone else will need to build a search engine on top of this.
If you’re interested in getting into it, download Ghidra and open an older program/game in it that you like. The decompiler is pretty amazing imo, so you rarely have to look at the assembly. But it also cross-references them so you can look at the decompiled C Code and the associated assembly. It’s pretty fun 😊
