News@lemmy.world•Pardoned Capitol rioter arrested outside Obama's home with firearms sentenced to time served
13·1 day agoThe former sentencing for participating in the Jan. 6th riots should have compounded the sentence and prevented early release
Probably actually helped him in this case if the Trump judge believes his previous time served from being a J6er was unjust.
It’s about like everything else living in our society. There’s already too much to be concerned about without becoming exhausted by it, survival, economic, social, spiritual, moral, etc. Being truly vegan takes a particular special effort and our society is not set up to support it and make it easy and accessible without extra effort on your part. So then it becomes a question of priorities like everything else. Hard line vegans prioritize it higher than most, moral vegetarians a bit lower, and everyone else lower still, if at all. In a perfect world where the majority of our base level needs were met, I think veganism would be a much higher priority for people, but it’s just one of many things to be concerned about in this world, and so naturally it will not be on top of everyone’s list.

Videos@lemmy.world•OpenAI is trying to position themselves as "Too Big to Fail"
26·1 day agoSo I initially misunderstood and thought that they were netting 13 billion revenue. I was going to point out that the difference between 13 billion and 1.4 trillion is right about 1.4 trillion. But they’re not netting 13 billion. They’re netting NEGATIVE 13 billion. Their total gross revenue is only 4.3 billion. They need to QUADRUPLE their gross to make NOTHING. And THEN earn another 1.4 trillion to pay off their agreements SO FAR. In one of, if not the, most oversaturated, highly competitive, geopolitically charged markets on the planet Jesus fucking Christ. They’re going to tank the global economy, or at minimum the US economy. We’re fucked. If I see these guys in the bread lines I’m beating them and stealing their bread.

7·1 day agoThe moment the leadership mentions that the government will be a backstop for them, let alone when they have and continue to accumulate such a MASSIVE debt and overreach that they will never deliver on, they should be immediately dissolved and their leadership charged criminally for fraud. Period.

21·2 days agoYes, I know. And to maintain homeostasis, it has means to make adjustments to changes, like pH. Which means you can change the pH of some fluid in the body within reason, and it will correct this change. We are not saying anything different.

1·2 days agoI wasn’t trying to suggest that it (alkaline water) necessarily does anything of significance. I certainly wasnt saying it has any health benefits. I was saying that, at most, adding a small bit of base to the body might make it compensate a bit. That’s it.
Experience does not fill me with hope

34·2 days agoOk. Then they’re wrong. The human body’s overall pH can vary within to a small degree with little to no effect on your health, let alone kill you. Changing the pH in small amounts, particularly in different areas like the stomach, will not typically harm the body at all. The entire purpose of some medications like antacids is to do that specifically with the stomach, for example.

Nay, matey, there be another option. It be the P. Because without the P, a pirate would be irate.
