First time posting on the laptop now that I’m back in the states, anyone know how to add alt text on the main image? I know the body text I just put it under instead, but voyager always has the option for the main. I’ll probably use the phone to try to see if I can edit it, otherwise it’s: The double falls of Silverton falls as seen from the viewing area, minor rainbow action just below the split.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Prairie Rattlesnake, Teddy Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota2·2 天前Hell yeah, this park is great, I’m a huge sucker for badlands so I’m all for it. Came through here about 4 years ago, but I think all I had time for was the scenic drive and a couple of the overlook type short strolls. Got in the petrified forest loop today and probably only going to get in painted canyon tomorrow depending on the weather before I need to move on again though.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Prairie Rattlesnake, Teddy Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota5·2 天前I used to work at a catfish hatchery in NC back in the day. After emptying a pond for stocking we’d have a pile of bluegill/sunfish that had made it in and we would toss them in the creek leading out of the hatchhouse. The cottonmouths and banded watersnakes which thrived there would wait for the free meal. Cool and creepy.

Certainly go right ahead, I worry about spamming stuff so personally just leave it to this one post but I think it works great if others say this would be cool on __ and help spread it around.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Lake Louise Lakeshore Trail Banff National Park, AB1·2 天前Probably just early enough that the Big beehive section was still too sketchy with snow.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Lake Louise Lakeshore Trail Banff National Park, AB1·3 天前That would’ve been right around when I was there, about 4 weeks ago, on 6/12 which I think I forgot to put on this post. Was a great time to be there!
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Little Beehive and Lake Louise Loop, Banff National Park, AB4·3 天前Haha, yeah it was still an absolutely great hike, and this set is actually from the end of my hike when it finally broke up a little bit. If it kept breaking up, some people after me probably got the perfect views with a clouds streaking. Tomorrow’s section to big beehive, which I actually did first, never left the clouds when I was there though, and why I’m all Moody with the clouds haha. Looked cool anyways, but never saw the lake in full.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Lake Louise to Lake Agnes Teahouse Banff National Park, AB1·4 天前Thanks! Yeah, even with all of the clouds it was still great.
That looks super cool frozen over, lot of different bits to it. Yeah, if you had snow there, then you probably wouldn’t have even been able to tell they were there. Kind of in a pit area that would’ve filled with snow I’m sure.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Bow Glacier Falls Banff National Park-Icefields Parkway, BC1·9 天前That would be so cool to see! That whole area around Abraham lake is great.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Bow Glacier Falls Banff National Park-Icefields Parkway, BC1·10 天前Absolutely loved Abraham lake area. Camped at a couple different spots along it while I did Allstones lake, coral canyon, and Siffleur falls. It was already thawed when I got to there though so I didn’t get a chance to see the methane bubbles.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Bow Glacier Falls Banff National Park-Icefields Parkway, BC4·11 天前Yeah, I believe this is the same spot, or close enough but slightly different perspective. Looks like it could be the same tree as well. Should be in the area between the two parking lots.
Bonus pic from when I passed through there in between when you were there and when I hiked it. Ground is dry but lake is the unsafe frozen. Not quite same view though.
Edit: Also, cool pic while everything was still fully covered.
Highly recommend taking the tour if anyone makes it to Mesa Verde National Park (CO), which they should.
View from a bit away.
View through a window looking into the main area.
View from just in other side of previous window, with a view out into the valley.
Looking down into the Kiva
Elevation 7,000 ft but hike is just a few flights of stairs worth of ladder climbs.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Paget Lookout and Sherbrooke Lake Yoho National Park, BC2·14 天前Yeah, a lot of areas that were still sub-alpine still gave off that vibe. I swear one of the lakes I drove past in the Mt Robson area west of Jasper had an alpine looking lake at like 3k ft.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Bear Creek Falls Glacier National Park, BC2·18 天前Thanks! Yeah it has been truly special.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Bear Creek Falls Glacier National Park, BC2·18 天前Yeah, the way the mist softens the details on that rock makes them almost look like cutouts or something that has that sharp edge to it.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Rockgarden Trail Glacier National Park Revelstoke, BC2·20 天前If you mean Glacier on the US side, yeah my favorite park that I’ve been to. I’ll spend a little time there when I cross over, gotta get in another go on the Pitamakan-Dawson for one thing. I’ve always been there end of season though so it’ll be nice to see this time of year. Waterton will be first time for me.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Rockgarden Trail Glacier National Park Revelstoke, BC2·20 天前Thanks! Yeah, I think Stanley glacier may be my favorite hike up here so far, but they’ve all been so nice. There is a ton I’ll need to come back and do since I came through here so early, but I am more than happy to come back. I’ve got maybe 10 more days to check out castle park and waterton area before I cross back into the states for a little while heading east. There’s still a ton of daily hikes to post before then though, I’m just going through in the order they happened.
everydayhiker@lemmy.worldOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•Siffleur Falls Trail (Extended), Kootenay Plains Ecological Reserve, Alberta2·22 天前Damn, that is wild. Agree on the cats, they worry more than anything and I’ve rarely ever even seen any. I had wondered if many people went out that way as a backpacking trip, but I’d say you filled it in really well. Thanks!
National Park, apologies I’m usually pretty good about using the full one in the title. Got a little excited with that post. It’s also in North Dakota and I’ve updated the title now.
