Limits on state power do not reliably prevent bad governments from abusing it, because bad governments can and do weaken and circumvent those limits. Are constitutional limits meaningfully stopping Trump? Did they keep Putin from the presidency?

In my view, this logic is another case of “when they go low, we go high”. The only reliable way to prevent the abuse of state power is to keep those who would abuse state power from attaining it in the first place.

Ich habe noch keine richtige Anzeige erstattet, weil ich erst seit zwei Monaten –seit meinem letzten Unfall– eine Kamera habe und wegen eines gebrochenen Arms wenig unterwegs war. Deinem zweiten Punkt kann ich meine Erfahrung entgegensetzen. Ich jedenfalls suche nicht nach Verstößen, sondern fahre weiterhin vorausschauend und rücksichtsvoll von A nach B. Ich bin eigentlich entspannter unterwegs, weil ich nicht mehr sofort tätig werden muss. Menschen, die gegen die Regeln verstößen und mich dabei gefährden, muss ich zum Beispiel nicht mehr an Ort und Stelle davon überzeugen, dass sie einen Fehler gemacht haben und in Zukunft aufmerksamer fahren sollten, was erfahrungsgemäß sehr selten klappt; jetzt kann die Justiz dafür sorgen, falls ich mich für eine Anzeige entscheide. Menschen, die mich grob fahrlässig oder absichtlich gefährden, kann ich jetzt erst dazu bringen, solches Verhalten zu unterlassen; solche Menschen ließen sich noch nie auf Argumente ein. Wenn jemand auf dem Radweg steht, muss ich nicht mehr vor Ort entscheiden, ob ich ein Foto mache; ich kann jetzt in Ruhe darüber nachdenken, inwiefern Radfahrer gefährdet wurden und ob eine Anzeige sinnvoll wäre — das Bildmaterial ist auf jeden Fall vorhanden.

Mit Kamera zu fahren, würde ich nicht als Aufrüstung werten, weil es –anders als größer und schwerere Autos– niemanden gefährdet, aber ich kenne mich mit dem Begriff der »Aufrüstung im Straßenverkehr« auch nicht aus. Warum hältst Du das für eine Aufrüstung?

Du kannst Deine Fahrten mit einer Kamera aufzeichnen. Dafür eignen sich sogenannte Actioncams, die gegen Regen geschützt sind, Bildstabilisierung bieten und sich an Deinem Fahrrad befestigen lassen.

Eine Videoaufnahme hätte Dich zwar nicht vor diesem Manöver geschützt, aber sie könnte zusammen mit einer Anzeige –die in Deinem Fall absolut berechtigt wäre– den Busbetrieb dazu bringen, seine Berufskraftfahrer besser zu schulen, und andere Verkehrsteilnehmer für so was sensibilisieren und vor ähnlichen Aktionen abschrecken. Der ADFC hat dieses Jahr einen Artikel zur Rechtslage solcher Videoaufnahmen veröffentlicht. Mitgliedern des ADFC steht übrigens eine Rechtsschutzversicherung zur Verfügung, die Dich bei einer Anzeige vielleicht unterstützt hätte.

In den vielen Vorfällen und Unfällen, in denen schlechte Infrastruktur eine Rolle spielt, können Videoaufnahmen auch ohne Anzeige eine positive Wirkung erzielen, indem sie auch Menschen, die selbst selten oder nie Fahrrad fahren, sensibilisieren und für eine sinnvollere Verkehrspolitik begeistern. Zumindest eine Person hat das zu einem YouTube-Kanal gemacht und mit solchen Videoaufnahmen super aufgeklärt.

Zu guter Letzt: es tut mir leid, dass Du so was erlebt hast, und es freut mich, dass Du nicht verletzt wurdest. Fühl Dich gedrückt :).

Regardless of the sums involved, the United States are outsourcing their human rights abuses and bribing other countries to turn a blind eye by making them complicit. Eswatini and all the other countries that partake in “migration offshoring” schemes, like El Salvador, Albania and Rwanda, will likely not call out the United States, the United Kingdom or the European Union for their criminal treatment of people who, by and large, desire to work and live in peace, because they would risk a source of income and diplomatic cover.

In any case, paying off its debt would be detrimental to the US, because global demand for its bonds results in higher bond prices and thus lower bond yields. In other words, the US pays less interest than it otherwise would because its bonds are so sought after. By paying off its debt, the US would not pay any interest whatsoever, but it would lose a great deal of power abroad.
