Thanks, that makes sense-ish.

What’s the deal with the grid symbol? The “hashtag” with extra lines?
It has its own Wikipedia entry too.
I appreciate the owning. Very rare these days.
Where? I wrote about “meat and dairy industry” and “animals”.
As a bonus: add to this animals that habit water.
Saying “PETA kills dogs” to defend the meat industry is just a scale mismatch. PETA euthanizes a few thousand mostly sick or unadoptable animals. The meat and dairy industry breeds and kills billions of animals every year, many of whom are unhealthy because they’re bred for extreme production. Even if you dislike PETA, it’s not remotely comparable.
This is false information. Right now they have 84 upvotes.
Milk? No. Dairy production? Absolutely.
9 = pronounced sounds like Finnish “nain”, meaning “I’m having sex”. Surely accidental but checks out.

- pick a volume
- open random page
- read about medieval remedies for mental illnesses
- open another random page
- read about some rare tropical bird
- repeat and rinse
- maybe brag about your tidbit knowledge to your friends later (if you had any)

73·2 months ago“I want to publicly shame them into resigning, because they don’t wear masks for safety. They wear them because they know their neighbors won’t invite them to dinner anymore, that their children or their children’s friends’ parents won’t want them at a baseball game. They care about their personal lives, but not about their safety,” Skinner said in a telephone interview with EL PAÍS from the Netherlands, where he lives.
This is the way.

Technology@lemmy.world•Head of the Signal app threatens to withdraw from EuropeEnglish
31·3 months agoIn the 80’s (I’m that old), many home computers came with the programming manual, and the impetus was to learn to code and run your programs on your own device. Even with Android it’s not especially hard (with LLM’s even less so than it used to be) to download Android Studio, throw some shit onto the screen, hit build, and run your own helper app or whatever
sideloadedinstalled via usb cable (or wirelessly) on your own device. In certain cases (cars, health related hw etc.) I get why it’s probably for the best if the user is not supposed to mod their device outside preinstalled sw’s preferences/settings. But when it comes to computers (i.e. smartphones, laptops, tablets, tv boxes etc.) I fully agree with Cory here. Such a shame everything must go to shit.
If I were your uncle, I would have. (Great bands, both of them.) In truth, the weight of history just gets heavier all the time with new great bands coming along as we type. I bet it wasn’t as bad when the Sonics, the VU or the 13th Floor Elevators roamed the Earth…

Oh, the blatant hypocrisy…
