  • In terms of immutability, Bazzite by design makes it very difficult to install things that aren’t in the app store/flatpal/homebrew. It is an OS dedicated to gaming, and tries to make it as hard as possible to mess that up. I’ve ran into similar issues when I try to do some non-gaming things, or more advanced gaming things on it (like installing a fan patch). It’s not a good OS choice if you want to do more than game and surf the web.

  • It’s been years, so I can’t say for certain, but I don’t think I ran into that issue. Gnome was my first Linux DE, so I kinda figured that’s how things were in Linux. I decided to give KDE a spin on Fedora since I was installing a completely new distro and it wouldn’t hurt to try something else new there as well. There was no straw the broke the camel’s back, just trying new things and realizing, “oh shit this is waaaaay better”.

  • I like to deal in absolutes when it comes to not psyching myself out from doing things. It very much is a mind game and also could be me coping with my social anxiety. If you’re able to medicate your ADHD take some time while you’re on your meds to make definitive plans (where you’re going and what time). It has helped me tremendously.

Just today I said I was going to go to a few select places with a definitive start and end point. I did have to remove some places cause I ended up having conversations with people that kept me somewhere longer than expected, but that's a good reason to not follow through on my general plans.

  • Strongly disagree with the author on this. Syntax highlighting for me is to be able to differentiate discrete parts of code rather than being able to quickly identify what is what. I don’t rely on syntax highlighting for catching errors since linters/compilers are a much more appropriate tool for that. Their color scheme is far too bare bones that it feels like one step above writing code in notepad. I have to do more thinking to see what the code is doing in the “improved” color scheme where the “inferior” version I can mentally see each part is distinctly different from the other parts. Maybe if they didn’t use such a clickbait title I would be less harsh.
