  • It’s possible. You need to let the pit dry out a little before you start carving. Depending on what you’re doing a couple of days to a week. If you look up “avocado pit pendant” you can see some surprisingly intricate carvings. From what I’ve seen though people usually start off by making buttons. Like the kind you’d find on clothing. Once the carving is done you let it dry some more and then seal it like any other wood. Be warned though during either of the drying stages cracks can form or full on splits completely ruining the project.

  • One of my first memories is of our bold mischievous cat. This cat was not only fearless she was fast to act. Well one Thanksgiving some family members decided last minute to come to our house. They had traveled seven hours by car with the plan being they’d arrive as the meal was being finished. Everyone had skipped eating so we could dine together. For reasons I cant remember our big meal consisted mainly of side dishes and a whole chicken in place of the turkey. I’m pretty sure that, somewhat small, chicken was the only meat on the table. Again can’t remember why but my mom was cooking it in a just big enough toaster oven. Now this chicken was looking absolutely delicious. Everyone was just waiting to dig in. So all of us are sitting at the table as my mom takes it out of the toaster oven. Now this I do remember very clearly. Her hand touched the side of the oven when the chicken was halfway out. She didn’t think, she just reacted, by dropping the tray and jumping back a little. Everyone gasped at this but it’s ok cuz the chicken landed in a way that most if not all can be salvaged. But our mischievous little kitten had been nearby. She probably made her move the moment the tray hit the ground. We were all still processing that the chicken had fallen when we see a white blur go to the chicken, tear off an entire leg, and dash off down the hall with the other cat close behind. No one even had a chance of stopping her it happened so fast. In the end the two cats got the biggest amount of meat on their plate. We had to split the remainder nine ways so you can imagine what made it to each plate.

  • “¿Esto es un baño?” Would be “Is this a bathroom?” If you were pointing at the door I think any spanish speaker would understand. Though I would use “¿Aque es el baño?” Which would be closer to “Is this the bathroom?”

If you weren’t pointing at a door and want to ask where the bathroom is it’d be “¿Dónde está el baño?” Translation: “Where is the bathroom?”. Other options are

    • “¿Me enseñas dónde está el bano?” = Can you show me where the bathroom is?

    • “¿Puedo usar tu baño?”= Can I use your bathroom?

    • "¿Tienen un baño que puedo usar?= Do you have a bathroom I could use? Or just “¿Tienen un baño?”= Do you have a bathroom.

“Lo siento no habló español” is “I’m sorry I don’t speak Spanish.” Alternatives:

    • “Lo siento no habló hablo mucho español.” = I’m sorry I dont speak much spanish.
    • “Lo siento no sé mucho español.” = I’m sorry I don’t know a lot of spanish.
    • “Lo siento nomas sé poquito español.” = I’m sorry I only know a little spanish.
    • “Lo siento nomas puedo hablar poquito español.” = I’m sorry I can only speak a little spanish.

Either sentence could be started with a form of “disculpa”. But honestly my thumbs are getting tired of typing so I’m just going to leave it there.
