The people I know refer to those people as “bougie” (boo-gee) as in bourgeoisie.

That’s the preferred order. It’s much harder to throw a community at a cop.
I leave my carriers out, open, and as part of their tunnel system (I sometimes put the ends of crinkly tubes into the carriers to make an end play point).
So my cats actually enjoy their carriers. I don’t even have to shove them in, just put in a couple treats and since they are used to being in it, zip it peacefully behind them.

Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes@lemmy.zip•[Discussion] Have you stopped playing a soulslike mid-playthrough? What was the reason?English
6·2 days agoSame. I have a bunch of them, have tried most of what I have, and really want to play through them cuz they sound really rewarding. Instead I find them rage-inducingly, frustratingly difficult and I’m just not that into being frustrated and mad for hours at a time. If I was, there’s some humans I could talk to for similar effect…

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•"Get therapy" is such a classist statementEnglish
182·4 days agoCounterpoint: “get therapy” is often a shorthand stand-in for “Jesus fuck, do at least a little bit of work on making yourself slightly tolerable, please!” Which can be done through reading stuff online and actually thinking about it, watching videos on YouTube, etc. It doesn’t all actually require therapy, but a therapist is capable of pointing you in the right direction, and reassessing with progress, which makes it faster and easier.
There is definitely some stuff that requires outside help to really thrive with, or that’s much easier to work through with help, but most of the therapy I’ve ever had was shit I could have found online. It wasn’t even applied in a particularly unique way.

7·4 days agoOh! I bet that’s where the name of the thing comes from! If you go back into the link, Lena is at the top of the page, and the original draft shared the name.
Thanks for that added context!

3·4 days agoNo idea on the naming, I haven’t really looked into the author or their writing beyond this tbh. However if you click on the links at the top, it takes you through more of their work and author info, it might be buried there somewhere.
And the spoiler request is just because it’s really not that long and those are the juicy bits ;) I think it’s way more impactful inside the greater context, but I mean maybe I’m wrong on that, and have weird preferences.

“She died 20 years ago so that’s pretty nasty, but I’m proud of you for admitting your kinks so publicly!”
If they stop and think about it they realize I was young when it happened and it shuts them down HARD. If they don’t, I upped the ante in such a way as to be largely un-toppable.

Art@lemmy.dbzer0.com•The "Duck" in Avenida Palace hotel, BarcelonaEnglish
20·4 days agoThat is elegant af.
It’s amazing all the little details people think of. “When people look up they see… a weird spiral that causes vertigo… let’s umm… oh I know let’s extend this observation railing, and make it a duck this time!” Even though looking up isn’t, really, a necessarily major design consideration in most buildings. Not to say they ignore it, just it’s not a priority most of the time.
Edit: can’t speeeeelllll

14·6 days agoNo avatar because I can’t be bothered. I don’t see them on my app anyway. As far as I can tell, nobody has them.
I was watching some movie, and I was like ooh, centipedes would make good farriers; they can use their body along the hoof to draw a stencil by just passing a pencil along all of its feet!
And that was silly so here we are.

You don’t have Kroger anymore? We do up north now, so figured it was still down there.
