  • This is the starting point of the real second Cold War. The moment the US admits it can not fight China. Just as it admitted it could not fight the Soviet Union and began the first cold war. The world settling into protection of their spheres of influence while cold war operations and proxy wars are undertaken instead.

Difference is that the roles are reversed this time, China is ascendant and US is in decline. The outcome is historically predictable, just need the US to be drawn into a long war it can not win nor withdraw from.

AI bubble will burst sending the US into economic catastrophe from which it will jump into wars to save itself then be unable to get out of them and eventually collapse.

  • The DSA member who gave Newsweek access to the materials on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation said they were uncomfortable with the Communist Party links and what they said were efforts to avoid discussing controversial issues.

“The materials document a sustained pattern of ideological alignment, narrative filtering, and network overlap consistent with influence conducted at the discursive and organizational level,” said the person, who is a member of the International Committee. “We value democracy and openness, and this directly contradicts that.”

Dipshit radlib that still believes every negative thing about China or an infiltrating wrecker. One of the two. The extremely clear way this is stated using all the key rules-based-order words smells like infiltrating wrecker to me.

  • Yeah I think the “lesson” here if there is one rather than just advancing the plot for Gabi is that the work Gabi is doing is real productive work that makes something whereas the work the others are made to do is completely pointless. It doesn’t quite land though because that work wouldn’t be pointless if the machine weren’t faulty.

This is quite a difficult thing to draw, it would arguably be better to show Chief’s labour vs Gabi’s labour but that would undermine future comics where Gabi is going to end up doing the managerial and logistics stuff that Chief does. The problem here is that this is a fantasy setting so there isn’t really a “capitalist” to show the difference between labour and not-labour.
