You described it well. It’s what happens to tyrants, and invariably brings their downfall. It’s a process: they replace more and more annoying critical voices with yesmen and -women. It strengthens their power, until literally nobody dares to criticize them anymore. And suddenly there’s no way to correct course back to normal, and it all turns into a farce.

We have other living examples for that, historical examples, even fairytales - and measures against it. Separation of powers, no more than two consecutive terms, and ultimately the democratic process itself - if those haven’t been hollowed out for decades.

Have you considered that maybe Noto developers made a choice there, to render Kanjoi thicker than Chinese characters? I know, that doesn’t explain why Dolphin would render them in a way that is more pleasing to you. Have you tried using other fonts altogether?

Wenns um Markenlogos auf der Kleidung geht, das fand ich noch nie gut.

Andererseits bin ich stetig auf der Suche nach Qualitätskleidung. Marke ist aber kein Garant für Qualität.

I’d like to recommend Miss Smilla’s Feeling for Snow. As a novel or as a movie. I read it - and loved it - back then and re-watched the movie just a week ago.

It’s about Greenland and Denmark, it’s about crazy rich people, a country full of resources and the dangers lingering therein. It’s about the exploitation of both the land and its people.

I just read something about this, and it jibes with my own thoughts on the topic:
