absolutely not, nobody should ever be barred from democracy. out of the question find another policy to advocate.

fascism to retaliate against fascism is flatly fucking stupid.

participation in democracy and governance is not a privelege.

In fact it is. We don’t get to participate in the vast majority of our governance already. Now you could argue that a society should afford full democratic rights to all of its citizens, but that is not the system we’re living in. Even in the areas where we’re allowed to participate, we have exceptions that bar many millions of people from participating, including but not limited to prisoners and in most places ex cons.?

It is not a privelege, it is something being deprived from people by an ever increasingly fascist state. You do not fix a problem by copying it, the other user argued for disenfranchisement, for genocide.

Somehow on beehaw, arguing that it’s mass disenfranchisement or mass executions of roughly a third of the united states, over 100 million people, is fine for some reason. injustice now is not solved by injustice tomorrow, and any person who argues for mass genocidal disenfranchisement is, in fact, a fascist.

Oh I agree that we should not be moving to strip these people of given rights, don’t get me wrong, but enfranchisement has historically been a privilege. Part of the movement towards justice has been extending that privilege to more and more people, and that seems to have positive effects on the society as a whole, but it seems metaphysical to imply that it is not something granted by the state under a nation state framework.

I’m for reeducation and re-entry into society for all but the most unredeemable, and I don’t think, as horrific as they are, most trumpers are unredeemable. We’ve seen even those most enthused and unrepentant tools of empire redeemed, such as Japanese soldiers who returned from imprisonment by the Chinese after the war to become staunch anti imperialists for the rest of their lives. Very few are incapable of growth, no matter how stunted their development may be. I don’t necessarily think fascists should be allowed to vote until they have repented their fascist views, but I also don’t think I have enough right to make that decision myself.

The other option is executing them for their treason.

THEY DON’T GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO FUCK UP MY LIFE.
