I top up the battery on my spare phone, leave it on the table and come back a few hours later to find it very warm and very dead

is that an installed app or built into the phone itself??? Weird, though using a lot of internet heats up your phone and uses a lot of power so you don’t want to upload or download gigabytes on a phone over WiFi.
