I would say that is just politics, but considering the harm it will cause it definitely crosses into corruption.
On a side note, I learned about the Gulf of Mexico environmental catastrophe a couple of months ago. Apparently there are ten thousand oil wells left uncapped that could at any moment cause untold damage to the environment.
Plus hundreds of giant abandoned oil rigs are scattered everywhere and the entire sea floor is littered with pipes. It is mind bogglingly destructive to the environment. I really can’t believe we allow it in the name of profits.
Ugh, not to defend Newsom since he helped create the mess, but a compromise bill is probably a result of CA being in a pretty harsh deficit going back a few years. I imagine the current state in the US only makes that worse, especially if you’re banking on clean energy investments.
