You know how, to trick a child into going along with what you want, you give them two options that both tacitly assume the thing that you want so they feel like they have a choice and go along with it? e.g. “On our way home, do you want to stop for ice cream or donuts?” (tacit assumption: we’re leaving now).
As it turns out, you can do the same thing to adults.
The correct thing to do if you give a shit about Palestine is not to give legitimacy to a genocidaire who will girlboss pinkwash the slaughter of innocents, it’s to organize outside of the choice the neoliberal establishment gave you, because there is more to the world than who gets elected President, and some of it is actually productive.
This is a really good way to explain this concept to people who think there is a meaningful difference between the US parties, I’ll be using this in the future.
