I disagree. The FDP did support the legalization of Cannabis. They are also against the precautionary retention of IP addresses (“Vorratsdatenspeicherung”) [1]. Additionally, they are firmly against chat control, which has been a continuously hot topic for many years at this point [2].
I personally disagree on almost any other topic with the FDP, for the reasons you’ve pointed out. But when it comes to surveillance and personal freedom they are indeed liberal.
