In this case in particular I think it’s because of how fucky ride sharing as a business model is. Personally I hope this leads to them cutting Lyft and Uber out of the market by forming a syndicate backed by California, doesn’t need to be backed by the state but it’d help for advertising and could be a fine way to regulate such corporations away.
