It’s not surprising to me really given that gamers have thrown fits over past games using types instead of ‘female’ or ‘male’ but I guess I just can’t get over how fucking stupid it is to care so much that you download a mod that reverts the text in a character creation menu. The slightest change in language in order to be more welcoming to other players is treated as the downfall of society by these people.

edit: Oblivion loading screen: If playing on PC, you can change your character’s gender mid-playthrough. No one is stopping you. Cast fireball on citizens or creatures who take issue with your decision.

I think they just want to be angry, but are also lazy. Which is why they always pick the character creation stuff to get mad about. No sense getting mad about a quest 30 hours into the game, that takes effort to get to! But the character creation screen? Even a monkey smashing random buttons could probably reach it no problem.

Yes, there were several big controversies in recent years that made it to gaming news sites (and shitholes like 4chan and /r/kotakuinaction). The user featured here was quickly banned, then shortly was unbanned and the mod restored, but similar stunts in the past resulted in permanent bans and mod removal.
This article about the Spider-Man trans flag replacement mod in 2022 probably stirred the chud toilet, especially the “delete your account and fuck off” bit at the end. The NexusMods team are known not to tolerate edgelord shit, so it’s disappointing they let this most recent idiot back on.
There are hundreds of pages of 4chan-tier bigotry and dumbfuckery like this in the bans and warning subforum. G*mers get the fucking wall, no questions or mercy.
