Use water. Or just use grass if you going out in fields (please make some potholes first and then cover up. (to anyone who would assume i am appreciating or encouraging open defecation - i am not. that is only if you do not have sewage system (so old timey civilisations))

I knew that romans had (afaik) the best plumbing/sewage systems of the time. I know why they did not use water (getting large amounts of water at the time was a expensive thing. so one would prefer to move things which require water close to it instead of the other way round).
