So i was on reddit and noticed skred was mentioned. I never heard of it and gave it a try.Its French. It has some nice features. Does not use a phonenumber.
Give it a try.
No thanks. I don’t see the source code anywhere.
I want my secure comm codebase to be at least source available for verification, preferably open source.
I dont think its open source. But if foss is what you are after then this might not be for you.
Apparently, they are considering going open source.
I am also considering farting on the mother of everyone who reads this comment.
Use https://lemmy.ml/c/simplex https://simplex.chat/ European (minority US VC), OpenSource, most secure and not centralized and multiple Profiles, routing over multiple servers Its what skred aims to be: “you don’t need any email address or phone number to use it. Skred is open. No subscription is necessary, there’s no operator, no SIM card and no tracking.” https://simplex.chat/
Comparing to SimpleX, Skred is operating without servers for exchanging messages via the WebRTC protocol. A signaling server is used to send pushes to devices which will be able to established a peer-to-peer connection and do their stuffs ^^
Who is behind it?
Skred is supported by the french radio “Skyrock” (who also created Skyblog on 2002, a free-speech blog platform, closed recently). We developed Skred as a secure messaging app to provide a sovereign service.
“It’s French”…
I’m sorry. Maybe it’s alright, but that doesn’t inspire confidence.
