I don’t know much about equadors politics, but the big leftist party appears to be socialist, not tankie. At a glance at least.
Edit: Ah, it’s a bit complicated. There appears to be a party which is a socialist and a liberal party working together in a coalition, with the competing coalition being two right wing parties.
Also, the “socialist” party was very friendly with the Venezolan dictatorship

Lula isn’t even in good terms with Maduro anymore. There has been a diplomatic tension between Venezuela and Brazil since Dilma Rousseff was impeached. People expected the ties between countries to strenghten when Lula returned in 2023, but Maduro did not like that Lula and Celso Amorim were trying to work as some kind of international watchers for Venezuela’s elections. Lula even implied that their elections was rigged, which is WAY different than his discourse for his first presidencies, when Chavez was still alive.
So yeah, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Well, it depends on what is a tankie to you. If being a tankie is just some left-leaning dudes with a taste for boot licking, then okay, but if being a tankie is being marxist-leninist… Few countries have actual MLs running for elections at a chance of winning.
for most people here (not irl) tankies actually mean people who endorse the tanks being used to crush uprising and dictatorships. its not necessarily leftist, just an extreme authoritarian one
