Does anyone have experience of Ceratech’s trackballs? There doesn’t seem to be a lot of info or reviews about them. I wonder how they compare to the Logitech & Elecom offerings.
Ooh, never heard of Ceratech trackballs before. Price-wise they seem to be a lot more expensive than the Logitech ones which are more readily available everywhere.
havent heard of ceratech but the elecom models I own have dumb issues like the scroll not matching the wheel notches and needing a janky windows only app for the extra buttons
Follow-up to this…
I bought a Ceratech mouse (mou-image-rf-blk) just to try them out. What arrived was branded “Accuratus”, and the Ceratech website seems to carry the same branding now too, so it seems like they are going through a rebrand.
The mouse itself feels a bit cheap. The battery cover is a bit flimsy and feels like it might break if not careful with it, and although it clips back in OK it just feels a bit dodgy. There is a slot for the receiver under the battery cover. It slots in sideways, it’s not particularly snug, and it’s a bit fiddly to get out unless you have something to lever it out with.
I put my first impressions behind me and gave it a try for a couple of weeks, but it didn’t get much better. It randomly seems to lag occasionally. It’s so slight that the first few times it happened I wasn’t sure if it was my imagination, but it’s happened enough times now that I’m sure it’s not my imagination. The scroll wheel also does something similar: intermittently it just seems to miss a step. For the last few days, the left-click button has started sticking a bit. If it’s not been clicked for a few minutes, the first click just seems to stick and needs a bit more pressure to activate.
After giving it a good try I have stopped using it because it’s so janky. It’s not very expensive for a mouse, but it’s not particularly good value either. After trying the mouse, I would not consider buying one of their trackballs unless I found some compelling reviews that suggest they are built better. This is a real shame, because I was really hoping for a quality newcomer to the trackball market!
