Senate backs Trump’s nominee to lead Customs and Border Protection despite accusation by former official
The US Senate on Wednesday confirmed Rodney Scott as commissioner of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), despite a former top official accusing him of orchestrating a “cover-up” over the death of a man detained while trying to enter the country from Mexico.
Scott was confirmed on a party-line vote, with 51 Republicans in favor and 46 Democrats opposed, along with three absences.
He will take charge of one of the largest federal law enforcement agencies, which staffs ports of entry across the United States and also includes the border patrol, which he led from 2020 to 2021.
Taking bets that 3 months from now, after some heinous shit has hit the fan, we’ll get the “I sincerely regret my vote for you” speeches from the Dems.

Literally no Democrats voted for him…
Cool, change the brand of the politician, my statement still stands
Which Democratic senators would those be? I know the answer. But I want you to find it too, and realize why your comment is nonsense.
Part of effectively fighting this shit and holding Democratic politicians accountable is understanding at a tactical level when there’s even a fight to fight. This isn’t that. Lambasting them for a situation that didn’t actually happen (and I do mean this situation, not the others in which they did vote as you described) saps the power from criticism of situations that DID actually happen.
Change the brand of politician, and I’m sure you’ll have some republicans say the same thing.
The fight started so long ago and the “opposition” party has done nothing in their power when they had the ability to do so. Pardon me that I assumed this was more of the same. Made an assumption out of me.
