Then he shared a video, which he dubbed the “the queerest moment in game show history.”

In the clip, Jackson is trying to prompt Pearson to come up with a correct answer. Her clue is, “I am going to do this to you for filth!”

Without missing a beat, Pearson correctly guesses the answer is “read”.

Would some kind soul kindly explain this to an older straight person? If you’re wondering why I’m here, I was just browsing “all,” and this post caught my attention. TIA.

So the game show requires you to say things in a category and for the other person to guess that category or word. So if the category were colors, you’d say red, blue, green, etc. If the word were ‘shave’ you’d say “I’m going to do this to my beard”.

In this case the word was “Read”. Now, any straight person on the planet would just use books, magazines, etc. But you’d need to get across multiple cases, probably, for the person to get the word ‘read’.

However these two were queer and with being queer comes having its own slang terms. One common phrase in the gay community is “I’m going to read you for filth” which, essentially, just means roast them. To drag out all their most insane flaws and be brutal as hell in doing it.

So when one of them said “I’m going to do this to you for filth”, there is only one possible answer for a queer person. And he got INSTANTLY without missing a second. Extremely efficient for a game show but also extremely queer as it’s queer terms being used by queer people. The video is even funnier because the host is one of the straightest men around. The camera cut to him looking massively confused. Sorry for teeny screenshot but Instagram sucks.
