A phrase I use a lot at work. That and rearranging deckchairs (on the Titanic)
Which I despise because it incidentally normalizes bicycles as trivialities. We build entire forerunner constructs to temporarily house our cars.
You’re missing the point.
The metaphor relates to people deciding the colour of the bike shed instead of designing a nuclear power station. Because that’s difficult, and having opinions on a bike shed looks like work, but it’s distinctly unhelpful to the real work.
No I’m perfectly aware that my opinion about the metaphor isn’t related to it’s point and is perhaps even supportive of it’s idea of unhelpful work distraction in a meta sort of way. I just don’t like scenarios where bikes are positioned as a triviality. I’d pick a different metaphor cause that’s my opinion.
This term should be used more when describing people making certain political arguments.
There is already a word for them. You are thinking of diddlers
Oh we call those people either politicians or in some cases, the media
Quiddler is also the name of a card-based word game. It plays like Gin with a lot of Qs
Quiddlers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your keys!
