Selfhosted@lemmy.world•I present: Torum! A crappy yet functional bearbones selfhosted forum site for termux.English
2·11 days agoAgreed! Especially if you have an old phone laying around collecting dust
Simplex does check alot of those boxes… but smp traffic is easily identifiable unless your jumping through the major hoops of establishing a totally anonymous proxy.
An encoded message on a pastebin through tor. Congratulations, you’ve entered pedophile/terrorist level security realm.
Thats to bad being anonymous and secure puts you in that category. It shouldn’t!

Secure Coms@lemmy.ml•Using spreadsheet to protect your communications from even the most powerful people in the world.
1·19 days agoThinking more about this today and reasons why it’s going to be pretty un-penatrable.
It’s like if Alice and Bob got in a room and generated an entire new language that only they understood…except you can generate a new language in an instant. Kinda nuts!

Secure Coms@lemmy.ml•Nick Mathewson - Anonymous Communication
2·20 days agoInsightful nevertheless. Nick is one of the creators of Tor…I was pleased to hear straight from the man of all the technicalities of staying anonymous as well as some weaknesses of Tor.
I appreciate that he doesn’t claim Tor is perfect or infailable.

deflock.me@lemmy.ml•Sedona rejects license plate readers, removes Flock Safety cameras
2·22 days agoThat would certainly be a step in the right direction to discard immediately.
There is a way for HOAs to create safe lists that keeps you off a national search, but only for your neighborhood. You aren’t excluded from search results outside your HOA installed flock cameras.
Flock cameras aren’t speed cameras though, they are only made to capture license plates, generate vehicle attributes and fingerprint into a searchable database.
Even if there was a mechanism to exclude me from search results…the moment I pass a camera I am technically searched and cross reference against the bad guy database. There no way around the 4th Amendment unreasonable search violation for me.

1·23 days agoThe attack vectors are pretty limited for an airgaped device right? I don’t think installing a security update would really be needed in this schema.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•If it ask for your phone number its not private.
14·23 days agoYou make good points and I can’t provide any documentation. But the documentation won’t exist. It would be the closest guarded secret of all time. NSA only holds the upper hand if everyone thinks it’s secure. If the secret was out that that they could crack it no one would use it and the advantage is lost.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how did you make the switch from reddit to lemmy.. i'm trying to myself but struggling to ngl
5·25 days agoNew accounts on reddit are heavily restricted making it impossible to share things so I left. Found Lemmy by accident. Instantly way better community and low barrier to contribute has me hereforawhile.
My bad, from my point of view it shared the description when I shared the link but I guess not everyone sees that.

I’ve made a cleaned up version found here
Improvements
prompt for admin password on boot
admin panel that allows control for deleting posts (finiky but functional)
pages: 15 posts per page now…this greatly reduces load on server.
basic sorting functions
cleaned up creating posts and new ‘torums’ so the home page isn’t so messy.
