One could argue if all she increases is distance away from OP, then there is a form of vectorized movement in polar coordinates with OP at 0 and his GF moving in the direction of maximizing the space between them 🤔

I would ask that rather than being smug online thinking it makes you morally superior, consider that this is simply not enough for the current political moment and you should join an org and extend your efforts beyond elections. If you think that voting for the fascist with the kinder face absolves you of additional action, you’re mistaken.
Postimo@lemmy.ziptoUnited States | News & Politics@midwest.social•Donald Trump revokes Secret Service protection for former vice president Kamala Harris51·9 days agoIt is so depressing to have these conversations and learn just how many people that are otherwise deeply political think their duty ends at the ballot box. Yes, I voted in the last election, I will vote in the next, and I vote down ballet, now what? Because voting for the subtler fascists is not going to solve problems. It’s not going to repair the conditions that gave rise to right-wing populism, so what are you doing until then to deal with the political realities? Or are you going to do your bare minimum and vote in a couple years and hope that democrats have learned enough to actually fight harder this time around?

Idk, there was that interview he said the rebels were the viet cong, that the soviets had more freedom in what sorts of films they could get greenlit because you didn’t have to pitch it on how much money it would make, and I believe in it said that he was trying to show the decay into fascism under GHW Bush. The dude is not a good director, and can’t write dialog or people for shit, but I think he’s knows what he’s doing generally.
So if there are still servers, that sounds like it’s not peer to peer, right?
I am reading up on Solana a bit, but not really finding answers as to what functionally makes it a better protocol. Naturally being a blockchain most of the information is focused on trustless monetary transactions and all the scams that been involved. For what is novel I’m seeing a “leader” server that validates the order of events that as a role can be passed between theoretical similar servers of sufficient hardware? I guess I don’t think of super strict chronology as a desperate need for social media. So is the benefit you’re looking for in the smart contracts?
Further I would argue that it is underutilized, but the idea of seamless inter-connectivity is a super power tool of a set of social media platforms. And ultimately there is nothing that forces a particular platform to limit itself to the bounds of mastodon, the bones of activity pub are incredible versatile by my understanding. What do you see as the good stuff that is stripped away?
Federation is decentralized. I feel like some major structural issues would exist with p2p, like would I only see posts from people actively online while I am online?
What other protocols do you think would suit the needs of a decentralized social media better?
Kay and skittles has a good leftist breakdown of each of the Korra villains, for those that are into that sort of thing 😳
I mean they certainly fuck up a lot, but I think they, in larger narative strokes, do a good job of touching on how the failures of neoliberalism decay into fascism as complacent systems fail.
I realized I am bad at reading because I literally went through that exact thought process while trying to read what it was saying only to have to re-read it to pay closer attention and learn they were with me on that journey. How do you turn off the brain buzzing??

I really like Obsidian for campaign notes and stuff while running ttrpgs. I’m sure the uses are possible to recreate in other ways, but it makes it simple and easy enough for me to actually use it.
Honestly I think if there is a hope for greater detach from “The Cloud” more broadly, it’s a testament to nextcloud that folks that don’t even know enough to know what DB they are running are able to run a server, and host things well enough to consider themselves users.
shhh
This statement brought was to you by someone that set up nextcloud and had no clue what DB it was using.
