Also, Tankie is very clearly defined, but they don’t want to talk about that lmao: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tankie
Imagine supporting putin in the middle of an anti-capitalist dialog.
Yogthos, BrainInABox, and Davel. The unholy tankie trinity of obnoxious russia simps.
Where double standard? “Liberal” isn’t a pejorative, but “tankie” is according to Wikipedia.
They absolutely use liberal as a pejorative, but since it has other meanings to it as well, it’s not strictly defined as solely a pejorative
But the Wikipedia for liberalism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism) does in fact have a blurb for it:
"Consequently, the ideas of individualism and laissez-faire economics previously associated with classical liberalism are key components of modern American conservatism and movement conservatism, and became the basis for the emerging school of modern American libertarian thought. In this American context, liberal is often used as a pejorative.
There are tons of other words that can be considered as a pejorative, from “weird” to “moron” to “Tree-hugger” to even “Nazi”
They’re not using liberalism in that context, though, the one that Wikipedia says is often used as a pejorative. They’re not Republicans “owning the libs.” They’re using it in the “classical liberalism” context.
But they apply it to anarchists and other leftists who believe in abolishing private property, which is wholly incompatible with liberalism.
